Alaska Trip 2002

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

The Canadian city of Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island .  The city's relatively mild climate and beautiful gardens makes it a prime tourist destination in the Pacific Northwest.  Victoria is known as the "City of Gardens".

The 132' Victoria Clipper IV luxury ferry.  The ship can attain speeds of 46 miles per hour using its waterjet propulsion system, making the trip from Seattle to Victoria in approximately 2 hours.

The Victoria Clipper's 40 knot speed makes the Seattle skyline and the Space Needle recede quickly.

Randy and I brave the cool morning air to take pictures from the stern of the Victoria Clipper.

The ship's progress in route is tracked with a global positioning system and displayed on monitors.

Gaye and Randy reviewing video taken on the Seattle tour.  Or, are they taking a video of me taking a picture of them?

The cruise liner "Radiance of the Seas" docked at the entrance to Victoria Harbor.

Seaplanes are a popular mode of transportation.   Buildings of downtown Victoria are seen in the background.
