Calgary

From the initial call to Kane's Harley-Davidson emergency phone number, to this departure picture, Mick and his staff were excellent.  Roe called the emergency number Sunday morning from Canmore, sixty miles from Mick's shop in Calgary.  The man on the phone listened to his problems, offered to come get him and said that he would have priority in the shop when he arrived.  Before he hung up Roe asked his name, he said he was Mick the owner.  We couldn't believe the owner would answer the emergency number on a Sunday morning!

We arrived at Mick's dealership at 1:00 PM, met Mick and washed our bikes while a lift was cleared.  Dan, Kane's lead technician, then loaded Roe's bike on his lift.  It was no problem for Mick or Dan for Roe to stay with Dan in his work area while the repairs were done, which made it possible for Roe to get an education.  Dan made a few tests, found the problems and started the tear down.

The engine was barely running due to a bad temperature sensor.  All of the oil from the crankcase had ended up in the primary due to a ruptured engine seal. The oil in the primary caused so much pressure that the clutch plates didn't separate properly, thus the shifting problems.  The external oil leak was due to a failed O-ring behind the crank sensor mount.  The charging system failure was due to a bad stator which was shorting against the engine case.

Mick found a stator on a bike in his "fire-bike" warehouse, but the sensor had to be ordered Monday morning and flown in overnight.  Everything was fixed by Tuesday afternoon.

Woody's bike was serviced and they even removed parts from an inventory bike and repaired his broken linkage and running light.

We cannot say enough about the excellent, friendly, professional and competent service we received from everyone at Kane's.  Roe especially wants to thank Dan for letting him bug him for three days while working on the bike and using his tools.  Dan is an
excellent tech and a great guy.

If ever in the area, stop and say "Hi" to Mick, the owner of Kane's Harley-Davidson.  He runs an excellent operation devoted to helping his customers and providing a fun place for his employees to work.

Dan and Roe Tuesday afternoon after hours of "wrenchin" on the bike.
Dan was not scheduled to came in on Sunday, he did so on his own which was fortunate for Roe.

Dan, takes great pride in his work even if it's a old, dirty, 1997 bagger!
Roe says, "It was great having him fix my bike.
Hope you enjoy the smokes, "eh"!

Rob, the service manager (sorry we had to cut your finger off), and Terry, a head tech.  Rob made sure Woody's bike got what it needed and kept the younger techs jumping.  He took care of any parts and service needs Roe had.  Terry loaned Roe his tools and made me promise to have Canadian beer.  It was great working next to him.
Thanks to both of them.  And we really enjoyed the Canadian beer.
