Pine Mountain, Georgia

The trip to Pine Mountain, Georgia gave us an opportunity to give the coach one last test run before heading out on our cross-country trip and a chance to meet other American Coach owners.  Thirty-eight coaches from the Southeast Chapter of the American Coach Association gathered in Pine Mountain RV Park to celebrate spring.

The members are mostly retired and travel almost constantly in their American Coaches.  A cross-country trip seems nothing to them, and many of them were planning to travel to Washington state for the national American Coach Association in June.

Here they wait in line(?) for western grub.

Although Judy and I are newcomers to this retirement thing, the ACA members made us feel right at home.  In fact, they ran us into the ground.  They are a very active group!!  Golf, trips to Callaway Gardens and the Warm Springs Little White House, dinner in an old house on a horse farm, and a western jamboree kept us hopping for four days.

The jamboree was held at a local ranch.  The farm animals included a camel which had been rescued after being mistreated by a former owner.  Judy makes friends with a peace offering.

A stream flowing through the ranch looked inviting enough to go wading, and several folks did.

A hayride topped off a ranch style dinner and dancing to live country music.

An attack goose nips one of the coach owners.  His escape maneuvers took top honors in the dance contest.

Ever been eye-to eye with an ostrich?

These retired folks definitely have a sense of humor!!   Breakfasts, happy hours, and club meetings were held in a borrowed cemetery tent!!
