The pedestrian mall in Calgary, Alberta, was a peaceful place on Saturday
afternoon. Downtown Alberta is filled with modern skyscrapers,
many occupied by oil companies.
The 1988 winter Olympics were held in Calgary. This Olympic tower
was constructed to commemorate the occasion.
The Calgary Stampede is held each year in July. This artistic
competition was "udderly amazing." It reminded us of the
Chicago Bull exhibit which was on loan and displayed in Beaufort , South
Carolina in June. (Judy's comments, not mine!)
We were on the Harley approaching Longview through Kananaskis Country when a large
grizzly ambled across the road directly in front of us. He was in no hurry, so we
stopped to watch. The bear turned to see what all the racket was
about and my heart stopped! On a Harley with no quick escape route
is no place to be when coming face to face with a bear. Fortunately,
he was just
curious. He raised up on his two rear paws, gave me a
"thumbs up" and asked for a ride. Part of this story is
true, and here are the pictures to prove it!!
