Guy Ride 2000

Monday

Blairsville - Pine Ridge - Blairsville - Blue Ridge  - Ducktown - Turtletown - Tellico Plains - Deals Gap - Robbinsville

We left Blairsville Monday morning after breakfast at the Hole in the Wall Restaurant.  Heading north on US-19 toward Murphy, we took SR-294 northwest to the intersection with SR-68 just north of Turtletown.  After a great ride on the two-lane road through North Carolina and Tennessee farmland we stopped at a country store for coffee and gas.  Ricky realized that he had left a very important piece of equipment back at Seasons Motel in Blairsville.  Oddly enough, he had been singing a little ditty which corresponded almost exactly to the equipment he had forgotten.  We returned to Blairsville to retrieve the piece just in time for lunch at the Hole in the Wall restaurant.

After lunch we left Blairsville again, this time taking a "shortcut" through Blue Ridge to Ducktown and Turtletown to Pine Ridge, stopping at the same country store we had visited earlier that morning.

Leaving the country store, we traveled north to Tellico Plains and stopped once again for gas and soft drinks before heading up the Cherohala Skyway toward Deals Gap and Robbinsville.

After lunch we contemplate the ride back north toward Tellico Plans.  Ricky has retrieved the piece of equipment he had forgotten.

Rest stop on Cherohala Skyway between Tellico Plains and Robbinsville.

Brent with ever present toothpick.   Naturally, his nickname became "Toothpick" during the ride.

Pat looks happy and relaxed at the Cherohala stop.

The Cherohala Skyway was cold.  Leather jackets, chaps, and kerchiefs were the order of the day.

Ricky and Tim share a private laugh.

Rooster's kerchief covered everything but his eyes.

Tim and Rooster.

Tim "cools it" on his Harley Night Train.

Pat contemplates the unbelievable beauty and peace of the North Carolina mountains.  Tim returns from hunting bears in the woods.

The mountain views from the skyway were fantastic.
