East of Grand Junction lie the Grand Mesa National Park and Powerhorn Ski Resort.

Powderhorn Ski Resort.

The view from Powderhorn was magnificent.

The meadows alongside the dirt road to "Lands End" are filled with fields of blue, white, yellow and pink wildflowers.

The view from the "Land's End" drive.

These pictures were taken from the top of "Land's End" in Grand Mesa National Park.

Right:  Driving the Honda CR-V, I carefully negotiated the small dirt road you see winding in down the hill.  Incredibly, about halfway down we met a young lady fighting her way up riding a mountain bike!!  It was about 20 miles from the nearest parking area and maybe ten miles up the dusty, rocky, rutted, dirt road at a 10 to 15 degree climb to the top.  If she made it to the top, she should have been awarded an Olympic medal!!
