The ski lift afforded grand views of the mountains and lakes.

Big Mountain Ski Resort.

The views from the mountain remind you of the Smokey Mountains of
Tennessee and North Carolina.

Whitefish Lake and the town of Whitefish in the distance.

Bear grass lines the valley leading down from the ski lift.

Flathead Lake runs twenty-something miles from Polson, Montana to
Kalispell. A beautiful clear-blue lake framed on the west by
mountains, the lake is great for boating ....... between
June and September.
|
On the east side of Glacier National Park, Montana Highway 49
crosses the mountain range and flattens out into the prairie. Here
it seemed as if you could see forever over the plains after being in the
mountains for a week.

I played golf at the Glacier View Golf Club. It was hard to
concentrate on golf with the mountains so beautiful in the
background. A club rule permits moving the ball on greens only
when in an Elk track....... and they are serious.

Hungry Horse Reservoir near Hungry Horse, Montana, offers stunning views of
mountains in Glacier National Park.
|
While we were in West Glacier, the American Orient Express stopped for a
day to allow its pampered passengers a tour of Glacier National Park.

These folks are serious about bears, and rightly so. Bears attack
tourists in the park every year. This warning was tacked to a pit
toilet near Hidden Lake. It answers the question about where bears
do it........ pretty much anywhere they want to!!

Right: While riding the Harley in Montana
we ran across these signs.
The winding one and two-lane
road led 50 miles across the mountains. They weren't kidding about the
width varying!
The sign says: "If you are
unsure of your target, Do Not Shoot!"
If you're wearing a growling Harley and
wearing a
black leather jacket......
Amen to the "Do Not Shoot"
