Roe somewhere
in the Mojave Desert. Early morning heat. |
Mojave Desert. Roe being chased by Woody's shadow.
|
Miles and miles of desert. We left Las Vegas at 5:00AM to try
to beat the desert heat. A new tire for me and brake work for
Roe had us sitting on pins and needles until we crossed the desert.
It was a welcome sight to see trees and grass on the mountains in
the distance.

Woody sports a new Navy recruit style haircut with the skyline of San
Diego in the background.
|
Roe's friend Mike met us at the local barbershop and took us on a tour
of San Diego, Coronado Island, and the Mexican border. A special
treat was the departure of the USS Ronald Regan aircraft carrier viewed
from the Cabrillo Memorial high on a hill overlooking the harbor.

Mike is a Navy fighter pilot and one cool dude. |
Handlebars are 16" apes on top of a 3" riser.

Corner Number 2!!!

Roe dips a finger in the Pacific.

South Coast Harley sells 4-Corners T-Shirts! But they omitted
Alaska? Apparently nobody does the REAL 4-Corners but us!
|
A beautiful setting off the San Diego coast. Coast Guard Station
and lighthouse near Cabrillo National Monument and Ballast Point. |
The USS Ronald Reagan leaves port and rounds the peninsula heading up
the channel toward open water. Leaving port with F-18's on board
is a rare sight. The carrier had the aircraft on deck because of a
Memorial service the day before. |
|
Close-up of the carrier.
In this picture you can clearly see the
F-18s on board. |
The city of San Diego skyline is a shadow on the horizon this foggy
morning. |

Judy tried to get Roe and Woody to buy this t-shirt in Las Vegas!
Imagine our surprise when Mike showed up with the Shirt!
|
Right: Mike and Roe enjoy a smoke and a drink.
